1.8 gigapixel ARGUS-IS. World’s highest resolution video surviellience platform by DARPA

1 million terabytes a day saved forever. The ARGUS array is made up of several cameras and other types of imaging systems. The output of the imaging system is used to create extremely large, 1.8GP high-resolution mosaic images and video. The U.S. Army, along with Boeing, has developed and is preparing to deploy a new unmanned aircraft called the “Hummingbird.” It’s is a VTOL-UAS (vertical take-off and landing unmanned aerial system). Operation Red October Attackers Wielded Spear Phishing

The Red October malware network is one of the most advanced online espionage operations that’s ever been discovered. That’s the conclusion of Moscow-based security firm Kaspersky Lab, which first discovered Operation Red October–“Rocra” for short–in October 2012. “The primary focus of this campaign targets countries in Eastern Europe, former USSR republics, and countries in Central Asia, although victims can be found everywhere, including Western Europe and North America,” according to research published by the security firm. The attackers, who appear to speak Russian but to have also used some Chinese-made software, seem to have focused their efforts on stealing diplomatic and government information, as well as scientific research, from not just PCs and servers but also mobile devices. The Red October attacks began in 2007, and remained active at least through Sunday, which was the day before Kaspersky Lab first publicly detailed its research into the espionage operation. Rock solid proof of alien life?

Fossilized algae recently discovered inside a Sri Lankan meteorite could finally prove the existence of extra-terrestrial life, claim the authors of the new paper. In a recently published article in the Journal of Cosmology titled “Fossil Diatoms in a New Carbonaceous Meteorite”, scientists from the UK and Sri Lanka claim to have found fossilized algae in a meteorite. The paper alleges that “microscopic fossilized diatoms were found in the sample,” which fell in Sri Lanka in December last year. The finding, the work suggests is a “strong evidence to support the theory of cometary panspermia.” The theory argues that life across planets is spread by meteorites and asteroids.  Panspermia suggests that life could have existed on another planet and moved to Earth. The scientists concluded the paper by saying “the presence of structures of this kind in any extra-terrestrial setting could be construed as unequivocal proof of biology.” Samples from the rock were collected immediately …

Psychology of Subliminal Messaging

Two guests talked about subliminal messaging, and the psychology of images and perception. Appearing in the second hour, former advertising executive and founder of Ignite Productions, Jeff Warrick discussed his research on mass manipulation and subliminal messaging in a wide variety of media formats. Research has shown that the effects of subliminal messages are subjective, and can vary from person to person. However when negative words are flashed subliminally, they have a higher impact than positive words, and when the message is tailored to a specific person, it will create a heightened response, he detailed. Warrick also touched on how subliminals have been used in music, war propaganda, and politics. In the latter half, Eldon Taylor, a doctor of Psychology and Metaphysics, addressed the technology and power of subliminal communications. Marketers have become quite sophisticated, using fMRI to look at the brain live, to watch how people respond to information, …
